# When you die

When a player dies, **the backpack (inventory) with all its items drops to the ground**. Equipped items (sword, skin, armor, boots, etc.) remain intact and will stay tied to the player, but the backpack will drop to the ground and remain available for **5 minutes**.\\

\
This means that any player can pick it up and take your items (or, if you’re fast enough to return, you can recover them yourself).\\

\
There is a way to prevent the loss of items: the **Amulet of Loss**.

\\

\
The Amulet of Loss is a fragile trinket imbued with a fleeting protective charm. When its wearer falls in battle, this amulet shatters, ensuring their backpack remains bound to their soul and does not fall into enemy hands. **Single use only**. \
\
Its power is lost once broken.
\
\
This means that if you have it equipped and die, it will break, but your inventory items will stay with you.\\

\
You can obtain the Amulet of Loss in some in-game shops, and it will also be distributed occasionally during certain Sprite Land events.

### Loosing experience when diying

Once you die, an experience penalty is applied (you lose a percentage of each skill) as follows:

* 3% penalty for players with a FAN Account
* 7% loss for all other players
