Introduction

Sprite Land is a game developed by retro-style videogame lovers. The approach used is to find a player profile that has one or two free hours during the day and wants to have a good time with his friends discovering missions or solving mysteries.

Good to know: The game is still early in development, so please be wary of that.

We focused our efforts on making the game highly accessible, so that you don't need to download anything to your device as Sprite Land can be played from any browser.

Point of entry

Upon creating an account, your character first appears in Pixel Plaza, the central hub and heart of Sprite Land. Solania is a vast, open square surrounded by towering pixel art structures, bustling with NPCs (Non-Player Characters) and other players. It's a place of commerce, gathering, and the starting point for all adventures.

Initial Tasks:

Character Customization

The first thing your character must do is visit the Octopus, a workshop in the corner of Solania where you can customize your sprite's appearance, choosing from a variety of pixel art styles, colors, and accessories. Here, you define your character's unique look.

Meet the Mentor

After customizing your sprite, you'll encounter Byte, a wise old AI who acts as a mentor to newcomers. Byte will explain the basics of Sprite City, including how to navigate, interact with others, and the importance of the digital ecosystem. He'll give you your first quest:

The Lost Pixel: Byte will task you with retrieving a lost pixel, essential for the health of Sprite Land's infrastructure. This pixel was last seen near the Digital Docks, where the virtual river meets the city. This quest introduces you to movement, interaction with the environment, and basic problem-solving.

Navigate to the Digital Docks

With Byte's guidance, you'll learn how to use the city's transit system, including pixelated buses or teleport pads, to reach the Digital Docks. Along the way, you'll see different parts of the city, meet other players, and perhaps even join or form a temporary group to tackle the quest.

Retrieve the Pixel

At the Digital Docks, you'll encounter various challenges like puzzles or simple combat with rogue AI or glitches. You'll need to solve these to find the lost pixel, which could involve anything from aligning mirrors to reflect light in the right pattern or navigating through a maze of code.

Return to Solania

After securing the pixel, you return to Byte in Solania. Completing this quest not only marks the end of your initiation but also rewards you with your first set of GP, experience points, and possibly a unique item or title.

This initial journey sets the stage for understanding the mechanics of the game, introduces you to the community, and gives you a taste of the adventures that await in Sprite Land. From here, you're free to explore, take on more quests, join guilds, or dive into the creative and economic aspects of the city.
